A meeting regarding maintenance, repair renovation of city's residential and commercial buildings, held under the Chair of Chief Controller of Buildings Rauf Akhtar Farooqi, pointed out that city buildings, devoid of plant and renovation were a blot not only for the buildings themselves but also to the city's beauty.
Rauf Farooqi said there was need for such bye-laws which may make it binding for the builders to form registered co-operative societies to look after the repair and maintenance of the project after it was completed and possession given to allottees.
The meeting was held on the directives of Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Chief Sectetary Fazlur Rehman here on Wednesday.
CCOB said that even buildings with stable structure suffered damage due to persistent seepage and might face any untoward incident.
He said seepage and choked sewerage lines were quite hazardous to the building's stability and formation of registered co-operative societies would help check such things in an effective manner.
The meeting was also attended by Registrar Co-operative Housing Societies, Vice-Chairman ABAD, DDO (C) and KBCA officers.
