The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on December 1, has registered decrease in the average prices of 15 essential items. While the average prices of 10 items registered increase and 28 items prices remained unchanged, according to a data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) here on Saturday.
However, in terms of percentage change, the SPI for the lowest income group up to Rs 3,000 registered nominal increase over previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 134.38 as against the previous week''s 134.34, showing 0.03 percent increase.
The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
The items which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included tomatoes, bananas, onions, gur, chicken (farm), sugar, LPG (11 KG cylinder), rice basmati broken, electric bulb (60-watts), masoor pulse washed, garlic, moong pulse washed, mustard oil, wheat flour average quality and mash pulse washed.
The items which registered increase in their prices included egg (farm), potatoes, bread plain (med. size), firewood, wheat, coarse latha, beef, mutton, vegetable ghee (loose) and gram pulse washed.
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included rice Irri-6, milk fresh, milk powdered (Nido), curd, vegetable ghee (tin), cooking oil (tin), salt (powdered), red chillies (powdered), tea (packet), tea (prepared), cooked beef (plate), cooked dal (plate), cigarettes K-2, lawn, voil printed, shirting , Sandal gents (Bata), Sandal ladies (Bata), chappal sponge (Bata), kerosene, match box, washing soap (nylon), bath soap (Lifebuoy), gas charges up to 3.3719 MMBTU, electric charges 1-100, petrol, diesel and telephone charges.
