Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) on Saturday released the figures of cotton arrival in ginneries till December 1, 2005 showing less production by 12.96 per cent than the preceding year.
PCGA Secretary Muhammad Mehboob Alam briefed here on Saturday afternoon that total 8.78 million (87,81,130) bales were ginned by the factories while 10.8 million (1,00,88,855) bales were ginned during last season showing a difference of 1.3 million (13,07,725) bales. However, arrival during this fortnight is higher than last year because 19,37,758 more bales were ginned last year. Total arrival of this fortnight was 1,97,9258 while last year it was 41,500 more than this year.
Textile mills had purchased 60,34,741 bales, and exporters procured 52,600 bales while 26,93,789 bales are lying unsold in ginneries. According to the break-up of production, total number of cotton bales in Punjab Cotton Belt is given here under.
