The Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX) said its eastern market indicator (EMI) fell five cents at sales on Tuesday. AWEX said its northern indicator (Sydney) slid six cents to 651c/kg, with the southern indicator (Melbourne) down three cents to 636c/kg. There were no sales in Fremantle.
In Sydney, 17/18 micron (m) dropped about 2 percent with 19m about 10 cents cheaper. The broader offering was only slightly easier with 20/21m five cents cheaper.
In Melbourne, the best style and 40 nkt types were firmer while good style and 35 nkt types ended the day generally unchanged. 19/22m were generally unchanged to slightly easier. 21m lost eight cents while 23m was insufficient to quote. A high pass-in rate of 25 percent reflected the day's cheaper market.
