In the glittering world of show business to create a place at the top of the brilliance is not easy but once it has been achieved, it is further difficult to maintain it.
The life of eminence and distinction begins from this stage and lasts till such time the luminary bows before the goddess of humility and benevolence and does not maintain distance from their admirers. It is the admiration, which in fact keeps them alive in the hearts of those who love them.
Many of the Bollywood actors and actresses of the yore though have abandoned their careers and chosen to divert their interest to other branches of fine arts still continue to live in the memories of the people. People adore them and love them.
They appreciate them, their art and their dedication to performing art is still a reference point for them.
Manisha Koirala was in Pakistan for a few days. Her arrival was given low-profile publicity and her engagements in the city (Karachi) were limited to a few selected gatherings. Her appearance at a press conference was largely attended by showbiz personalities and newsmen who wanted to have a closer look of the celebrity.
She was there to answer questions on a variety of subjects. The grace with which she received questions and gave answers was pleasing as well as impressive. Many newsmen did not like her crisp answers and wanted her to speak at least in response to each question put to her. Given the time constraints it was a bit difficult for her to do.
She knows the art of articulating her ideas. To many questions her answers were short and crisp. Most of the time she was of the view that there should be friendship and understanding between the people of the two countries and that there should be free exchange of views on all subjects may it be politics, art and literature, media and tourism.
Koirala, five feet five inches, born on August 16 in Kathmandu, Nepal, studied at Army Public School, Delhi, was on a goodwill mission and most of the time confined her talks to oblique references to ticklish issues. This shows how articulate and well versed she was with the current issues. The charming actress from Nepal had warmth and affection for the people of Pakistan.
