Government has expressed resolve to abolish the buildings constructed without prior approval from building department of the Tehsil Municipality and a deadline of January 1, was given to owners of such buildings.
"It is priority of the town government to make sure complete implementation on new building code and stop illegal construction in the city", said Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, Nazim Rawal Town here on Thursday while talking to Business Recorder.
He was of the view that there are various buildings on Murree Road and other places, which were constructed without approval from civic body. These buildings are a constant threat to the people and government would take immediate measures to dismantle these buildings, he said adding that a deadline of January 1, was given to owners for demolition of these buildings after that TMA would itself demolish them.
He said that there are various buildings having no parking space and these buildings are causing huge problems and hurdles for motorists. "It is imperative to dismantle these buildings or impose heavy fine on the owners", he added.
Responding to a question regarding the constructed high rise buildings, Nazim said "We would see that if a constructed building would not be feasible to dismantle we will get a heavy fine from the owner to make separate parking arrangements". He said that government is looking to construct parking plazas on various places to address the parking problem in the city and make sure the smooth sailing of traffic.
"Very soon work would be started on parking plaza at Fawara Chowk at old Municipal Complex and this would surely end the parking problems and traffic jams in Raja Bazar and other adjacent markets", Nazim said and added that he is thankful to traders community for their co-operation and they will continue this co-operation in future.
He said that he has directed the concerned departments of TMA to hold a survey of Murree Road and other places to identify the unlawful buildings and buildings which have not left the parking space.
