Sindh government has decided to provide 150 automatic and semi-automatic precision laser land levelling equipment to growers at 50 percent subsidised rates.
According to a notification of Sindh Agriculture Department, the step has been taken to accelerate the pace of agricultural mechanisation and enhance productivity in the province.
Of the available equipment, the subsidised rates of automatic laser leveller will be Rs 245,000/- and semi-automatic leveller will be Rs 163,000/-.
A committee comprising Director General Agriculture Engineering and Water Management, Executive District Officer Agriculture and one each representative from Sindh Chamber of Agriculture and Sindh Abadgar Board will scrutinise the applications of growers for this purpose and organise balloting.
According to a spokesman of Sindh Agriculture Department, the use of precision laser land levelling will minimise water losses; increase irrigation efficiency, economise the use of fertilisers and pesticides and enhance productivity of crops.
