The Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company Limited (TDCV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Tata Motors, on Monday said it has signed a Technical Assistance Agreement (TAA) with Afzal Motors (Pvt) Limited of Pakistan for assembly of its vehicles in the neighbouring country.
The assembly of TDCV vehicles in Pakistan is expected to commence by last quarter of 2006 at newly-established plant of the Afzal Motors in Karachi, TDCV said in a release.
The assembly plant has design capacity to produce 3,000 commercial vehicles a year on a single shift basis, it said.
The assembly of TDCV vehicles in Pakistan will provide customers better products at competitive prices. It will be first Korean truck assembly project in Pakistan.
The agreement was signed by TDCV President KO Chae and Afzal Motors CEO Muhammad Ghufran. The TDCV, 100 percent subsidiary of the Tata Motors, is second largest manufacturers of heavy-duty trucks in Korea with a modern manufacturing facility at Gunsan in South Korea. TDCV vehicles are sold in around 50 countries across five continents.
