The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) will carry out computerised customs clearance of the imported consignments from India through installation of "One Customs System" at the Wagha border.
Sources told Business Recorder on Friday that the department is likely to spend an estimated amount of over Rs 21 million on the infrastructure, networking and installation of satellite technology at the new check post at the Wagha border. In this connection, the satellite communication equipment would be transferred from Customs Station, Muzaffargarh to the Customs Station Wagha.
According to the estimates submitted by the Custom House Lahore, an amount of Rs 700,000 would be spend on purchase of furniture, Rs 500,000 on networking and Rs 20 million on the purchase of electrical equipment and transfer of satellite technology to the check point at Wagha border.
The "One Customs Project" has several unique features including online connectivity with all the dry ports and ports. It would enable customs to clear imports/exports consignments using centralised database. Through this system, the goods declared at one station could be assessed by any collectorate using networking system.
