Prices fluctuated both ways on the wholesale commodity markets, the variations generally being modest, during the week ended on December 24, 2005. The commodities underwent changes were Irri-white, wheat, cotton cakes, guwar, castorseeds, tea, raw rubber.
ON MONDAY FOLLOWING FEW CHANGES WERE NOTED: cotton cakes with bag lost Rs 5 to Rs 450 and better was seen at Rs 460, Irri white low type gained Rs 5 to Rs 930, the other maintained its overnight level, Mexipak old and new posted fresh gain of Rs 15 to Rs 1,150 and better was quoted at Rs 1,160.
On Tuesday wheat Mexipak old and new both shed Rs 5 to Rs 1,145 and better was quoted down at Rs 1,155, guwar inferior type shed Rs 25 to Rs 1,625, while the other type lost Rs 50 to Rs 1,725, castorseed Lasbella quoted at Rs 700 and better quoted higher at Rs 725.
TEA PRICES LOOKED UP GENERALLY: Kenyan tea PF-1 Grade up Re 1 to Rs 175, B grade up Rs 2 to Rs 163, plus C grade up Re 1 to Rs 141, Bangladesh Garden Pack (original) up Re 1 to Rs 109, Gulab up Rs 2 to Rs 110, Khushbu up Rs 4 to Rs 106, Indonesian PF-1 Good up Re 1 to Rs 137, Tanzanian PF-1 (CTC) up Rs 2 to Rs 122, Rwanda PF-1, (CTC) up Rs 4 to Rs 139, and BP-1 up Re 1 to Rs 156.
On Wednesday grain market stayed put but elsewhere some changes like in Ceylon's raw rubber namely RSSV gained Re 1 to Rs 52, latex Semnan text up Rs 6 to Rs 350.
On Thursday Wheat Mexipak old and new both types turned higher by Rs 5 to Rs 1,150 and better seen at Rs 1,160, gram garda Punjab gained Rs 10 to Rs 1,865, and better quoted at Rs 1,900, gram dal Punjab picked up same amount to Rs 2,350 and better quoted at Rs 2,375.
On Friday changes were in guwar lower type down by Rs 25 to Rs 1,600 while better type managed to gain Rs 50 to Rs 1,775.
Jute goods elsewhere gave some value such as 20x3 Brown down by Re 1 to Rs 39, 16x3 CRT/India down Re 1 to Rs 39, 45x11 down Rs 50 to Rs 1650, and 45x3 United down Rs 25 to Rs 1,350.
