Troops fired on armed tribesman who attacked a check-post in Dera Bugti on Friday, killing one person and injuring seven others, a local official said.
"In Dera Bugti some tribesmen attacked a post of Frontier Corps on Friday," the town's district co-ordination officer Abdus Samad Lasi said. "An exchange of firing between the law breakers and security forces continued for one hour, as a result of which one person died and another seven were injured."
Tribesmen also attacked an army post in Dolli but there were no casualties, he added. However, Jamhoori Watan Party Secretary General Shahid Bugti said 16 people were injured after security forces fired on local people and tribesmen.
