Turkey's biggest mobile phone operator Turkcell said on December 22 it had decided to pay outstanding debt to fixed-line carrier Turk Telekom after making an early payment this month for its 2006 debt.
In the resolution of one of its two major debt payment deals, Turkcell struck a deal with Turk Telekom in December 2004 after a dispute over call termination fees had been resolved.
"With the payment of the remaining debt of 286.9 million lira ($212.1 million), to be made within the next few days Turkcell's debt to Turk Telekom will be zeroed," a Turkcell official told.
