Seraiki nationalists on Monday pressed the government to end military operation in Balochistan immediately and resolve the issue through political means.
Barrister Taj Muhammad Khan Langah, Chief of Pakistan Seraiki Party, Mansoor Karim Siyal, Secretary General, Abdul Majid Kanju and M.A. Bhutta of Seraiki National Party, Hameed Asghar Shaheen of Seraiki Qaumi Movement, Abdul Rauf Khan Sasoli of Jamhoori Watan Party said the Kohlu operation that was started after the visit of General Musharraf destroyed 25,000 houses.
Seraiki leaders said that the President and Prime Minister have been attacked several times in other parts of the country but the government conducted no military operation there.
They asserted that the government has now started operation in Kohlu after Dera Bugti. "If the government continued operation in Balochistan this will create disharmony among the people," they added.
"We want developmental projects in Balochistan but not in the form of construction of cantonments," they said.
They said that the present government on one hand is seeking help from international community for the rehabilitation of the quake-hit areas while on the other hand it has raised the controversial issue like Kalabagh Dam, which was earlier rejected by the three provinces.
They demanded that the military should return to barracks and resolve all the issues in Balochistan through political ways for the country's interest.
