Punjab University vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood has stressed the need for the revival of value system to counter the negative agenda of West about Islam.
Addressing the seminar on 'History and Civilisation of the Muslim World' at Pakistan Study Centre on Tuesday, Arshad said the educational institutions should promote research in science and technology as these fields play a vital role in cultivating better relations with other countries.
He said the West had learnt art, culture and science from the Muslims and such seminars provide a useful forum to discuss ways of awakening the Muslims from deep slumber.
Inam-ul-Haq Kausar spoke on "Islamic Culture in Balochistan" Sarfraz Khan discussed about "Contribution in Political Theory and Administrative Ideals of Muslim Thinker of Bukhara", Minhaj-ul-Hassan threw light on "The Intangible Cultural Heritage of Pakhtoons", Sultan-e-Rome discussed about "Administrative System of the Princely State of Swat", Faiqa Abdul Haye spoke on "Islamic Civilisation: Challenges and Prospects" and Dr Tariq Bangash described implications of Iraq war in South Asia's politics.
