The insurance companies of Pakistan are fleecing their clients. The premium for car insurance is galloping each year towards new heights (considering even the number of thefts). In case of accident, the inspectors are a very hard nut to crack.
They are discourteous and even hostile at times. Delay in processing is rule rather than exception. In case of payment of life insurance money at the end of maturity, you have practically to go down on your knees to process the correspondence.
In case of a widow, it is a nightmare. Previously insurance companies had to compete for the promptness of payment. A famous joke then was: "Two company managers were discussing the promptness of life insurance payment in the case of death of the client.
One person claimed that the company pays the insurance amount at the time of the funeral of the client, to which the other replied that an insured engineer fell from the roof of the building, which happened to have the office of the company. He was given the cheque by the company as he was falling and passing by the window of the office, even before he actually died."
