The National Database Registration Authority (Nadra) and Pakistan Telecommunications Limited on Thursday inked a contract for payment of PTCL bills.
Under the contract, the customers of PTCL will be able to use Nadra bill machines installed at specific points to pay phone bills.
Through the facility they can also get pin-codes of pre-paid products including calling card and tele bill payment card.
PTCL Customer Care Executive Vice President Jamil A Khawaja and Nadra Public Service Division Director General Brigadier Mirza Baber Aziz Beg (Retd) signed the agreement. Nadra has already signed such agreement with SSGC, SNGPL, Iesco, Kesco, Ufone, Paktel and Insta-Phone.
Nadra Chairman Brigadier Saleem Moin (Retd) speaking at the occasion said the pilot project was operational in Karachi and Islamabad, and the consumers of utility services were enjoying the facility of paying their bills through the system. Nadra has installed 35 such machines in Karachi and 5 in Islamabad G-9 Markez, he said while the network would be extended to other cities and rural areas of the country.
Saleem Mom said the Nadra had a plan to install 200 bill machines in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan, Lahore and other major cities adding that 500 machines would be in place by the end of current year.
He said in Karachi 35 machines had been installed at Nadra Swift Registration Centres, and Customer Facilitation and Services Centers.
Nadra Chairman urged the public to use the highly convenient facility. PTCL President Junaid Khan and other officials of Nadra and PTCL were also present on the occasion.
