The 2nd World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) will be held in Pakistan this November. This was announced by Tan Sri Musa Hitam, former deputy prime minister of Malaysia and leader of WIEF's International Advisory Panel (IAP) during a dinner meeting hosted by Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the honour of IAP's visiting delegation here.
WIEF's 12-member IAP is on three-day visit to Pakistan to discuss wide range of economic issues with Pakistan business community and the government especially mobilising the concerned quarters here to organise the second WIEF, says FPCCI press release here on Saturday.
He was very optimistic about the results of 2nd WIEF, which would be a follow up of the inaugural WIEF held in Malaysia last year.
Earlier, Tariq Sayeed, former president FPCCI, who is also member of IAP-WIEF, highlighted the role of WIEF and future prospects of the forum. He also identified the areas for strengthening commercial and business relations amongst the Muslim Ummah. He was confident that the Forum would pave a road towards the forging of new alliances for development and progress in the Muslim world and beyond.
Acting President of FPCCI, Akbar Abdullah in his welcome address, appreciated the IAP for holding its mid-term meeting in Pakistan to finalise the arrangements for organising 2nd WIEF in Pakistan. He assured all possible co-operation to transform this event into a big success.
"We are living in the era of globalisation where boundaries and distances are no longer impediments to commercial activities," he said.
This changed economic scenario has created fierce competition for developing countries in the world including the Muslim Ummah. By pooling of our energies and resources, the Muslim Ummah could transform the challenges of globalisation into opportunities and WIEF was a practical step forward in this direction.
International Advisory Panel of World Islamic Economic Forum was a composed of highly influential persons in diplomatic and economic disciplines.
