This is the second Japanese intervention, which will be used mainly for rehabilitation, and reconstruction of education and health facilities in the earthquake devastated areas in Battagram district. The Japanese government had earlier provided a grant assistance of 12 million dollars for emergency relief of the earthquake-affected areas, which was distributed in kind including tents, blankets, food items and medicine. The grant will be utilised for rebuilding of primary, middle and high schools, district headquarter hospitals, rural health centres, civil hospitals and basic health units in Battagram area.
Secretary EAD thanked the Japanese government for extending required assistance and help to Pakistan in its efforts for rehabilitation and reconstruction of the affected people. Pakistan government has step up reconstruction activities in the affected areas to help the earthquake stricken people. It has set up dumping points to facilitate the people to obtain required material for reconstruction of their destroyed houses.
