Adviser to the Prime Minister on Women Development, Nelofar Bakhtiar has said that Peshawar to Karachi train service for carrying skilled women from all the four provinces to attend the Women Expo 2006 will start next month.
She was addressing a gathering at Business and Professional Women Complex here on Tuesday. "The ministry is committed to give skilled women from all over the country representation at national and international level", she emphasised. Nelofar said that the ministry was also eager to amend Hudood laws.
She said that the ministry had already initiated several projects, including 'Jafakash Aurat' Gender Reform Action Plan (GRAP) and Women Political Schools (WPS) for empowerment of the women.
The ministry was committed to abolish all types of violence against women from the country, she said, adding that police training in this regard had been started to facilitate women in filing FIR.
She said the ministry was focusing on gender sensitisation of the government, semi-government and private sector departments so that women could perform their role in achieving their goals. On the occasion, 70 dinner sets were distributed among quake-affected women of AJK and NWFP.
