US stocks rose on Tuesday, boosted by investment bank Goldman Sachs Group Inc's record quarterly earnings, which lifted shares of brokerages and banks. Goldman, the first major investment bank to report results, jumped 4.7 percent to $147.33. Dow components Citigroup Inc and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co also gained.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 37.30 points, or 0.34 percent, at 11,113.32. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 5.87 points, or 0.46 percent, at 1,290.00. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 12.60 points, or 0.56 percent, at 2,279.63.
