The Habib Bank Limited President and Chief Executive Officer Zakir Mahmood has been awarded the Asian Banker Achievement Award 2005 for the leadership in Pakistan.
A statement issued here on Wednesday said the accolade reads as "For his leadership in improving Habib Bank's profitability and diversifying its revenue base in the fast growing economy."
It said the award had been initiated by the Asian Banker to recognise individual achievements in the financial services industry on annual basis.
The programme is designed to recognise the tactical skills of leaders and highly talented individuals in the financial services industry based on specific achievements in the past year that demonstrate the ability to apply high professional standards in response to challenges in a fast changing marketplace.
A total of 380 nominations from financial industry were received from all the countries in the region.
The Asian Banker research staff assessed each nomination and an external panel of distinguished international judges finally selected the winners.
The statement further said that that prestigious award took into account the performance of Habib Bank, an assessment of specific leadership that Mahmood had provided to the industry and also took into account peer review based on about 200 interviews.
The award ceremony took place in Bangkok where it was attended by leading bankers in Asia, the statement added.
