The National Assembly finance committee on Monday approved the budget for the National Assembly for the year 2006-07.
The committee, chaired by Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain, was informed during 2005-06 the expenditure of the National Assembly were kept in the budgetary ceiling and non-developmental expenditure were also kept within limits; therefore, there was no substantial variations in figures of budget demand for 2005-06 and 2006-07.
Matters related to improved efficiency of the National Assembly secretariat employees were also discussed and it was decided the criteria of merit and seniority would be strictly observed in promotions.
The committee approved up-gradation of security staff of the National Assembly and promotion of additional secretary legislation to BPS-22 and re-designating it as special secretary legislation.
The matter related to security of parliament lodges was also discussed and it was agreed that the finance ministry would release Rs 3 million to CDA for installation of searchlights and detective cameras in the parliament lodges.
The committee was also briefed by the Kashmir committee secretary about its working.
MNAs Sardar Muhammad Nasrullah Khan Dreshak, Sardar Shahjahan Yousaf, Rana Omer, Nazir Ahmed Khan, Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah, Ms Fauzia Wahab, Begum Rehana Aleem Mashhadi, Dr Abdul Ghaffar Khan Jatoi, Kanwar Khalid Younus, Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, Maulana Abdul Malik, Saeed Ahmad Chaudhry, Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah attended the meeting.
