Rana Mehmood-ul-Hassan, MNA, Begum Memona Hashmi, MNA, and Rana Noor-ul-Hassan ex-MPA and City President on Saturday attended the meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) in London with former Prime Minister and Party Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif in the chair to discuss the future strategy for next general elections and for various national issues facing the country at the moment.
They represented the Multan in the meeting. Rana Mehmood-ul-Hassan, MNA told local newsmen that PML-N leaders in big numbers have already reached London to attend the CWC meeting. Raja Zafarul Haq, Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, Chaudhry Nisar, Sardar Zulfiqar Khosa, Rana Tanvir, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Inamullah Niazi, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Raja Ishfaq, Rana Sanaullah, Pervaiz Malik and several other leaders attended the meeting.
The CWC reviewed the political, environmental and global situation, visit of US President George W-Bush and it forged its response towards the growing lawlessness, price-hike and unemployment in the country. The meeting condemned the reports, bracketing Nawaz Sharif with Osama.
The meeting firmed up its strategy with respect to future parliamentary elections, due in 2007.
The meeting also took some important decisions regarding the party's reorganisation. According to him, Mian Nawaz Sharif issued instructions to organise the party up to grassroots level, from district to union councils' level.
The meeting also exchanged views on the 'non democratic' attitude of the present rulers. The meeting highly appreciated the courage and dare of those who were not yielded to government's pressure and it bitterly criticised the fair weather friends who changed their loyalties. Since his exile, it was the first CWC meeting presided over by Nawaz Sharif.
The issues regarding ARD politics, especially the growing co-operation between the PPP and PML-N for future election came up for discussion. The members weighed the pros and cons of future electoral co-operation between the PPP and PML-N on this occasion.
