A paramilitary soldier and three tribesmen were killed on Sunday in a clash in Balochistan, officials said. The shootout began when tribesmen attacked security forces guarding a route to be used by hundreds of returning tribesmen near Sui, a security official told AFP.
"Two attackers and a soldier were killed in the shootout," he said. "Two soldiers were also injured in the attack, while one of the attackers, who fled the scene after the attack, was killed when his motorcycle hit a mine," he said.
Another attacker, also on a motorcycle, was critically injured in the same blast, he added.
Hundreds of tribesmen, who had fled to neighbouring Sindh province after being threatened by rebels waging a sporadic insurgency, have started returning home under a government-sponsored program.
Separately, a bomb planted on roadside exploded in Khuzdar but caused no casualties, police official Amir Farooqi said.
Meanwhile, Two explosions badly damaged Balochistan Chief Minister's residence in Bela on Sunday afternoon. However, there was no casualty.
According to details, two big explosions occurred near the northern boundary wall of the personal residence of Chief Minister Jam Muhammad Yusuf, in Bela, about 150 km from Karachi. The brick wall was damaged badly.
According to SHO, Bela Police, Abdul Jabbar Ronjha, there was no casualty as a result of these explosions, which occurred at about 4.15 pm. At the time of explosion, except some servants, no family member of the Chief Minister was in the house.
Police cordoned off the area and arrested about a dozen suspects.
