Producers had harvested 37 percent of Brazil's expected record 2005/06 soyabean crop - seen at 57.5 million tonnes - by March 24, analysts Celeres said on Monday.
Brazil harvested 52.7 million tonnes of soyabeans last crop, which was hurt by losses from drought and Asian soya rust.
The rate of harvest this season is slightly behind the 43 percent harvested by this week in 2005 as well as the 42 percent harvested on average for this period of year, Celeres said.
Mato Grosso, the No 1 soyabean growing state, is most advanced in harvesting. Producers in the center-west state have collected 63 percent of the area planted to the oilseed, which is nearly on par with the 62 percent collected a year ago.
Mato Grosso is normally the first state to plant and harvest across Brazil's soya belt. No 2 soyabean state Parana, which is in Brazil's south, has collected 46 percent of its crop, lagging the 56 percent last season at this time.
