National Assembly Standing Committee on Women Development Chairperson Mehnaz Rafi has stressed the need for introducing the services of the National Commission on Status of Women (NCSW) at grassroots level, setting up the NCSW offices in every province and Women Development Secretariat in the federal capital as well.
She was presiding over the meeting of the Standing Committee on Women Development in the Parliament House to discuss working of the NCSW here on Tuesday.
She also recommended for holding of an International Islamic Scholars Conference in Pakistan to discuss about the laws against women and their better implementation.
The Committee also took serious notice of the absence of Minister Incharge of Women Development and other senior officers of the ministry as only the NCSW Secretary Suhaila Asif, and MoWD Director General represented the Women Development Ministry.

The Committee appreciated the NCSW performance. However, it emphasised the annual report of the NCSW should be sent to the Parliament for discussion.
The Committee was of the view that the existing laws, which provide shelter to the women but were ineffective due to non-implementation especially, in the rural areas as the rural women were unaware about their rights.
