A member of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has filed a petition against increase in transport fares with prayer to fix maximum fare as Rs 5.00 on inter-city routes.
The petitioner, M.D. Tahir contended that most of the poor people use public transport but the fares are too high. He said that poor people are already facing unbearable burden of price hike but the respondent secretary RTA without taking people in to confidence, has increased the fares illegally and without lawful authority.
He therefore, prayed to the court set aside recent increase in fares and fixed maximum fare as Rs 5.00.
