All Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association (Apcea) has called for installation of scanner, early completion of boundary wall around and strengthening of security system at Peshawar Dry port for promotion of export from the provincial metropolis.
These demands were made during a meeting of the Railway and Dry Port Standing Committee of the association, held here with Committee's Chairman Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi in the chair.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Apcea members Faqir Hussain, Mazhar-ul-Haq, and Imtiaz Ahmad Ali.
The meeting welcomed the initiatives of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz regarding the shifting of dry port to Azakhel and called for immediate implementation of the decision and shifting of parking of reconditioned vehicles to Amangarh Dry Port.
The participants said that due to parking of those vehicles, the port had less area for import and export goods, causing problems to the importers and exporters.
Addressing the meeting, Apcea Chairman Faqir Hussain asked the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) to ensure modern facilities at Peshawar Dry Port from its funds.
Mazhar-ul-Haq said the restoration of Export Cargo-328 Down would help timely delivery of export goods, adding that due to the lack of this facility the wagons loaded with goods had to take long time in reaching Karachi.
Imtiaz Ahmad Ali called for removal of hurdles in the promotion of export, saying the facilitation of exporters could help increase export.
Committee's Chairman Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi called for installation of scanning machine, construction of boundary wall, security system and introduction of entry pass system.
He also called for arrangement of shunting line and examination of goods through one-window operation to help the exporters earn maximum foreign exchange for the country.
