The Concept Agrotech Consultants Limited (CACL), India and the Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan have joined hands to promote Pakistani brands of exhibitions in India.
An agreement to this effect has been signed, says a statement of Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan here on Monday. It said that the Director Programmes of CACL, Jaeya Kumar, and Dr Khurshid Nizam, President of Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan signed the agreement to promote the food, agriculture and livestock Asia international exhibition and conference in India.
The statement said that the CACL would encourage the leading Indian organisations to participate in this conference organised by Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan under the umbrella of Indian pavilion. It said that the partnership is being seen as a major breakthrough to bring closer the business communities of India and Pakistan to strengthen the bilateral trade relationship of the two countries.
Bilateral trade between Pakistan and India almost doubled to cross one billion dollar mark this year. The 400 million dollar increase in the year ending March 2006 was attributed to the launch of a last year. The establishment of relations along with South Asian Free Trade Agreement (Safta) and the opening of rail and road links has brought changes in customs tariffs and reduced trade-related barriers, leading to restoration of direct trade linkages and reducing the transaction costs.
The statement further said that Pakistan scrapped import duties on 13 commodities from India, including garlic, onions, potatoes, tomatoes and livestock that were scarce in its local markets.
The second food, agri and livestock Asia 2006 international exhibition and conference incorporating hotel, restaurant and bakery Asia is being organised by Ecommerce Gateway Pakistan and Jamal's Yellow Pages of Pakistan with the support of Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Ministry of Privatisation and Investment, Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Government of Sindh from September 8 to 10 at the Karachi Expo Centre.
