This is with reference to the letter printed in the Business Recorder on 24th March 2006, under the title "Promotions in national airline." It is not correct for the writer to state that PIA is flouting the laid down criteria for promotions of employees.
In fact, PIA in the last 12 months has made many promotions in a transparent manner, which was announced in a circular and smoothly conducted. Such a procedure is unprecedented in the history of PIA. All these promotions were made in strict compliance of the rules and regulations of PIA.
In all the promotions, none was made either on an ethnic bias or on recommendations from outside nor was they made in disregard to seniority or qualifications. Only merit was the consideration.
It is absolutely wrong to state that the Chairman and CEO PIA, accompanied the Senior Vice President (Flight Services) went to England for interviewing female airhostesses in London.
Only the concerned people were involved in the interview. H. Khan from UK should have known better before writing such a letter.
