A three-member delegation from Vietnam visited Pakistan Commodity Traders Association (PCTA) on Monday and assured all-out support to Pakistan's traders in buying several food products, and expressed hope to raise bilateral trade between the two countries.
Ashraf Tar Mohammad, Chairman of PCTA, told Business Recorder on telephone that the three-member team from Vietnam, belonging to Hepro Co, met the traders' community in Karachi.
Hepro director Pham Van Cong, export manager Nguwen Cao-Minh, export manager from Singapore Jeffng and Vitenam's commercial director in the country Nguwen Hong-Tien met the traders and shared their views about increasing trade between the two countries.
"They assured our traders to further ease up the trade relations and take measures to satisfy the Pakistani buyers. Already, members of PCTA are bolstering their trade relation with Vietnam and are satisfied with the dealings, especially with Hepro. The commitment and quality they shipped meet all international standards and are willing to further boost the quality of their food products."
The traders are importing several food products from Hepro. The company is one of the largest food distributors in Vietnam and is rendering a series of services to several countries.
Pakistani traders, Ashraf said, are importing black tea, green tea, coffee beans, cashew nuts, cinnamon, curry seed, sesame seed, turmeric, betel-nuts etc.
He said that the company is not exporting desiccated coconut to Pakistan as the delegation pointed out that they are facing problem because of the quarantine rules and regulations. "We have assured the delegation, and the commercial counsellor and members of PCTA would soon arrange a meeting with the quarantine officials to resolve this obstacle", Ashraf said. Removal of this hurdle would soon increase one more products to be imported from Vietnam. "Currently, our members are importing desiccated coconut from Indonesia, Malaysia and Sri Lanka."
The PCTA also decided to give a trophy to Hepro at the annual meeting of the Association in September this year.
