Strike continued on the second day to express sorrow and grief over the Nishtar Park incident throughout the interior Sindh on Thursday. In Hyderabad, the shops were opened in the morning but the angry youths came out on the roads and forced the shopkeepers to close down their business.
Some people resorted to aerial firing in certain areas, which created harassment and tension. The women wing of MQM held Quran Khawani for the victims of Nishtar Park. Hyderabad police has increased the patrolling in three urban talukas of Hyderabad.
Meanwhile, DPO Hyderabad held a meeting with religious leaders in his office. He appealed to the people to maintain peace in the city and foil the evil designs of the miscreants.
He condemned the Nishtar Park tragedy and said the police functionaries and government servants were also an integral part of the nation and they had been equally affected due to loss of precious lives.
He said the religious leaders should keep an eye on the miscreants who always exploited national tragedies to achieve their own nefarious interests.
Those attended the meeting included Alhaj Gulshan-e-Illahi (Jamat Ahl-e-Sunnat), Abdul Waheed Qureshi (MMA), Shaikh Shoukat Ali (JI), Dr Abdul Samad (PTI), Moulana Azam Jehangiri (JUI) and others.
Taluka Council City Hyderabad held a special session and condemned the Nishtar Park carnage. The council members also held Fateha Khawani for the departed souls. Thousands of people belonging to religious parties took out a rally and staged a sit-in on Phulelli road.
Ahl-e-Sunnat leaders Mohammad Azam Leghari and District Bar Association president Abdul Hakeem Memon spoke on the occasion.
Complete strike was also observed in Tando Ghulam Hyder, Bulri Shah Karim and Tando Muhammad Khan talukas of the district. The zila nazim Mir Inayat Ali Talpur has directed the police to remain on high alert.
In Sanghar Distract a reported protest rally was taken out from Dilbar chowk which after marching on different roads culminated at local press club.
Leaders termed the bomb blast as barbaric act and demanded of the government to nab the terrorists and give them exemplary punishment. However, all the business activities remained normal throughout the district. Similarly, reports reaching from Tando Allahyar and Matyari districts where strikes observed on secondly consecutive day.
