Stating that United States appreciates Pakistan's efforts, White House Spokesman on Thursday said, "We will continue working closely" with Islamabad in the global war on terrorism. Scott McClellan, in response to a question, said Pakistan "is a very good ally of the United States."
This was a relationship, he stated that has changed in the aftermath of the September 11th attacks. "We appreciate what they're doing to go after former members of the Taleban and al Qaeda members and bring them to justice."
McClellan added the United States would continue talking about these important priorities, as well, moving forward on reform.
He said President Bush "had a very good visit" of Pakistan, during which he held meetings with President Musharraf. "They had a discussion, certainly, about the importance of continuing to move on the path of democratic reform."
The Spokesman said at the press availability in Islamabad that President Musharraf expressed his commitment to continue moving down the path of democratic reforms.
