The Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has offered land to Technology Up-gradation and Skill Development Company (Tusdec) for setting up Skill Development Centers (SDCs) to train youth in the trades of furniture making, construction, tourism and hospitality.
According to a Tusdec's spokesman here on Wednesday, the AJK government had offered eight kanal piece of land for SDCs for construction skills at Muzaffarabad. It has also offered another eight kanal of land at Bagh where the Company plans to set up SDCs for construction and hospitality trades.
Moreover, for furniture making SDC at Muzaffarabad, the AJK government has asked Tusdec to approach Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) for acquiring the land lying unutilised with the Corporation.
Similarly, the NWFP government has offered 17 kanals of land to Tusdec for the construction of SDCs in Batagram district and 16 kanals at Mansehra for construction and hospitality trades.
Tusdec General Manager for Skill Development Colonel Syed Anwer Ali Pervez (Retd) would visit these areas from April 24 to 25 to survey the land offered by the AJK government for the proposed SDCs. The director technical education would represent the AJK government during these surveys.
Meanwhile, the land offered by the NWFP government would be taken over by Tusdec during Pervez's visit on April 21 and 22 along with a representative of Director Technical Education NWFP.
The project is funded by Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), which has approved Rs 200 million for eight centers at four locations in NWFP and AJK.
