Raw sugar futures finished higher Friday on late speculative buying in a session featuring switch trade as players roll out of positions in the spot contract before it expires next week, brokers said.
The New York Board of Trade's May raw sugar contract added 0.06 cent to settle at 17.21 cents per lb, dealing from 16.83 to 17.25 cents. July rose 0.04 to 17.54 cents. The rest went up 0.03 to 0.10 cent. Technical analysts feel resistance in the May contract is at 18 cents, with support at 17 and 16.90/80 cents.
Volume before the close amounted to 58,437 lots, against the previous count of 73,292 contracts. Call volume touched 12,395 lots and puts hit 10,909 lots.
