It gives me great pleasure to receive the Pakistan Environmental Reporting Award-2005 in non-listed, local companies category on behalf of Engro Asahi Polymer and Chemicals Limited (EAPCL).
At EAPCL, we believe that how we conduct our business has a direct impact on the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the community in which we operate. Our commitment to society is to continuously manage and reduce the environmental footprints resulting from our operations, activities and products. We are committed to ensure the highest safety, environment and industrial hygiene standards at plant. We give prime importance to protection of health, safety and well being of our fellow employees, customers and neighbours.
Our Environmental Management System demonstrates a commitment to develop and implement programs focused on continuous improvement in resource conservation, waste reduction, and pollution control. These programs along with the commitment and dedication of our employees have taken us to the level where we have been considered worthy of this auspicious award.
We value transparency and openness and we believe that clear and transparent reporting encourages trust and opens avenues for improvement.
Delivering a sound environmental performance requires constant dedication of our senior managers and the involvement and commitment of all EAPCL employees. Each one of our employees is empowered to suggest and make improvements in the system and hence is responsible for attaining or exceeding the environmental objectives set by the organisation.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to thank ACCA and WWF for the awareness that they are creating through this award. The award, as one can see, will go a long way in making the industries realise the importance of corporate responsibilities to society and other stakeholders through open and honest reporting, description of the efforts being put and the results obtained.
