United Nations Office of Drugs Control (UNODC) has started field workers training to explore the causes of drug addiction in the country. Sources said that the training programme is aimed at compiling comprehensive data on addicts for next plan of action.
The field workers will identify problems of the drug addicts so that a remedy is provided to them. The UNODC counter-narcotics programmes aim to inhibit the flow of illegal drugs through Pakistan, curb poppy and heroine production, and reduce the demand for illegal drugs within the country, they added.
Sources said that UNODC, US Narcotics Control Affairs Section and Australian government will finance the training programme.
Sources said that data collected from the field will be processed and detailed report will be published after completion of the project. They said that the data would help narcotics control ministry to frame practicable policies.
