A provincial level Disaster Management Authority was formed here at a high level meeting held under the chairmanship of Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad here on Sunday.
The Authority will be an independent organisation to be headed by the Chief Secretary Sindh. The meeting was attended by Senior Minister Syed Sardar Ahmed, Home Minister Rauf Siddiqi, Advisor Finance M A Jalil, Advisor Local Government Waseem Akhtar, Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal, all the concerned Secretaries, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology Chancellor Z A Nizami, and representatives of other universities.
The meeting took the decision for setting up of this Authority after discussing in detail the proposals, which were mooted by various committees set up in earlier meetings on the issue of disaster management.
