Pakistan should make its policy on Iran very clear and provide unconditional support to it against US. This was the crux of the views expressed at the Hamdard Thinkers Forum (Shura-e-Hamdard) in its monthly meeting on the topic of "Harmony: the basic pillar of national security" held here on Wednesday with Dr S M Zaman in the chair.
The Chairperson of Hamdard Pakistan Sadia Rashid was also present on the occasion. The chief guest Dr S M Zaman said that the nation and country need complete overhauling, which is only possible through giving good education system. The discrimination between the rich and the poor in the field of education should be ended, he said.
"If we adopt uniform system of education and standard syllabus then we can achieve the respectable berth in the comity of nations", he added. He was of the view that besides producing good Muslims we should also produce first-rated engineers, doctors and scientists for development in all fields.
The forum stressed the need for forging unity among Muslims round the globe to protect from the bullish attitude of the US. Former ISI Chief, Hamid Gul observed that Pakistan should support Iran against the probable US attack. Islam addresses all the human problems and by following the religious teachings in letter and spirit we can achieve progress and prosperity, he emphasised.
He was of the view that Hamdard Forum should file a petition in the Federal Shariat Court regarding 22-point agenda presented by Maulana Maudoodi in 1951.
No one can eliminate Islam by suppression, rather it would get more strength if anyone tries to suppress it, he said. He said that in Waziristan, the hold of Taleban had become strong due to military operation.
American influence made the situation tense in Balochistan and Waziristan. Although China is constructing Gwadar Port, the contract was actually awarded to US-based DPW firm, which in the long run would manage the port, Gul said.
Amir Gulistan, former governor NWFP, Professor Niaz Irfan, Dr Moiz-ud-Din, Qazi Arif Hussain, Chudhary Shafiq, Begum Akhtar and Dr Nisar Rashid also spoke on the occasion.
