Central Executive Committee of Pakistan Muslim League, held here at the PML House, on Saturday discussed the present political situation in the country and organisational matters of the party. President PML Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain presided over the meeting while it was also attended by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and federal ministers.
Shaukat Aziz briefed the CEO about his visit to Baku where he attended the important meeting of Economic Co-operation Organisation and held meetings with various leaders. The Prime Minister said PML has become a popular party at grassroots level and success of its conventions held at various places is the indication of its popularity.
Shaukat Aziz said the PML would take along all its allied parties in the development projects and running affairs of the government. He said the pace of development projects would be expedited so that the goals of provision of basic needs of life to the people at their doorstep was ensured before the next elections.
Referring to the provision of water and electricity, the Prime Minister said, all the villages would have electricity by 2007 while the government would ensure the provision of clean drinking water to the people. He said filter plants would be installed in various districts and tehsil and at union levels to ensure provision of clean drinking water to the masses.
PM said due to consistency of the economic policies, the country has achieved good economic growth and assured that the results of good economic progress would be now transferred to the people.
He said efforts were being made to provide basic commodities to the people at reasonable rate and added that government had provided sufficient quantity of sugar at the Utility Stores to provide the people at lower rates.
The Prime Minister said with the continuation of the policies, particularly in the last six years, the country has shown tremendous growth in various sector and expressed the hope that it would improve the living standard of the common man.
President PML Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain addressing the CEC meeting of the PML said the party has started the process of election, which will be completed by August 12.
He said PML has become a popular party throughout the country and said it could continue its policies with the help and co-operation of all the allied parties.
Shujaat said the PML has introduced the culture of decency in the politics and now instead of taking revenge against the political opponents, all the politicians are free to express their point of views.
Other members of the CEO also expressed their views on party affairs and national politics.
