Pakistan on Sunday refuted claims made by a Taleban 'commander' that the abducted Indian engineer was killed at the instance of its top intelligence agency, saying that it had never sponsored the policy of killing civilians.
"We have been condemning killings of civilians wherever they occurred as acts of terrorism. It is not the government policy to sponsor killing of civilians," Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said, reacting to reports by 'Afghan Tolu TV', which quoted a Taleban 'commander' as saying that Surayanarayan was killed at the instance of ISI.
Tasnim said Pakistan government would have come out with an official reaction, had such claim been made by the Indian government.
"Reports such as these are not worth commenting on. But, if anybody has any evidence, they are welcome to forward it," she said.
She said that the TV channel had made such claims against Pakistan in the past, attributing them to some Afghan officials, that were later denied.
"These days, anybody can make claims through internet, claiming to be Taleban. Such reports are not worth commenting," she added.
