Residents of twin cities have shown grave concern over the supply of contaminated water for drinking that has been the root cause of diseases found recently.
A survey conducted by PPI revealed that a large number of people in twin cities have been suffering from diseases including hepatitis, diarrhea, and typhoid now a days.
The citizens have complained that they had not been provided with clean drinking water, adding that, the supply of contaminated water on part of authorities concerned is responsible for these mentioned infections commonly found in every fourth person.
A senior citizen, Haji Akram, told that his grand daughter had been suffering from hepatitis due to consumption of unhygienic water. He added that people had no other choice than to drink the water that was presently available due to shortage of water.
A shopkeeper, Muhammad Aslam, also voiced against the supply of tainted drinking water, saying that the management had completely failed to provide relief to common lots. They were adding to their miseries by providing unclean drinking water in the backdrop of water shortage.
A hospital report revealed that presently local hospitals and clinics were dealing with 60 percents of patients that had been infected due to contaminated water.
Jamil Abbasi, resident of Sadiqabad, complained, "Where are the filtration plants that the city management claims of installing, if people are constrained of consuming disease infected water." He said that he had two patients at home - both suffering from diarrhea.
