The Indus River System Authority (Irsa) has enhanced water share of Punjab and Sindh by 11,000 and 36,000 cusecs, respectively to enable them to meet their water needs for irrigation purposes.
Irsa Spokesman and Senior Research Officer Khalid Rana on Monday told a private TV channel that the needs of all provinces would be met - the share of Sindh has been enhanced from 99,0O0 to 110,000 cusecs, while the share of Punjab has been increased up to 165,000 from 129,000 cusecs.
The high temperature in the catchment areas have contributed 22 percent increase to water inflow during this year as compared to last year. The water inflow was about 296,000 cusecs in country's rivers on May 14. Last year, it was 232,000 cusecs during the same period.
Now-a-days, there was no scarcity as sufficient water was available. The provinces were being provided water in accordance with their needs and demands, he added.
