Chairman, Prime Minister's Inspection Commission, and former head of Federal Relief Commission (FRC) Major General Farooq Ahmed Khan said the October 8 earthquake left widespread destruction.
He said that more than 73,338 people were killed, 1,28,309 injured and over 5 million had become homeless. He said this, while giving briefing to a batch of DMG officers from Civil Services Academy, Lahore about the October 8 earthquake devastation here on Thursday.
General Farooq said that the earthquake destroyed 400,152 houses, 7,669 education institutions and 782 health institutions in NWFP and Azad Kashmir.
