Ministry of Textile Industry (MoTI) has planned to set up a Research and Development Cell to study the global changes in the world textile market, said Federal Minister for Textile Industry, Mushtaq Ali Cheema.
Talking to the two-member delegation of Islamic Relief Mission of UK headed by Naser Hag Hamed, General Manager, Research & Development Cell, the federal minister said that this cell would provide assistance to the sector in developing according to the world demand.
He commended Islamic relief mission for its work in Azad Kashmir and NWFP during recent earthquake disaster, said an official release here on Thursday.
On the occasion, the head of delegation, Naseer Hag Hamed informed the minister that Islamic Relief (IR) was working in Pakistan since 1992 on emergency relief, development and disaster preparedness projects.
The IR has set up a research and study centre to find out causes of poverty in the Islamic and other poor countries.
At present they have started their work in Pakistan to provide assistance to government of Pakistan in their poverty alleviation programme, he said.
He said we need help of textile ministry is studying the work force of textile sector as more than 40 percent people are attached with this industry. Poverty alleviation programme of the government of Pakistan is laudable and IR would also share its experience in this regard.
He urged that textile ministry should cooperate with IR in its task of study and research for poverty alleviation in Pakistan.
The poverty is a dilemma of Muslim Ummah and to combat it, joint efforts are needed, he observed.
Federal Secretary Textile Industry, Syed Masood Alam Rizvi and local representative of IR Abdul Waheed were also present in the meeting.
