Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has announced the construction of dry port in Rawat Industrial area to facilitate business activity and create more jobs.
Addressing a meeting of business community organised by the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), he said that he had accepted a longstanding demand of the RCCI to set up dry port in Rawat to facilitate industrialists in bringing raw material to industries and transport finished products to markets.
He asked the businessmen to become shareholder in the assets of Railways by converting guesthouses into hotels, adding the government wants to utilise sick assets for generating revenues. He assured that bogies would be provided on concession rates to boost up business activity in the country.
The minister said he had invited international multinational companies for utilising 640 railway stations.
