University of the Punjab and Dhaka University have agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) as a framework for enhancing collaboration and co-operative programmes.
The MoU aimed at facilitating international academic exchange, developing academic and scientific relationships, and supporting collaborative research activities pertaining to various academic disciplines. This was resolved in a meeting held between the heads of two universities.
A 17-member delegation of Bangladeshi academicians led by Dhaka University vice-chancellor Professor Dr S M Faiz called on Punjab University vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood here on Tuesday.
The delegation was comprised Professor Babuna Faiz, Dr Sadrul Amin, Dr Borhan uddin Khan, Dr Muhammad Sirajul Islam, Dr Harun ur Rashid, Dr Muhammad Anwar Hossain, Dr Muhammad Abdur Rashid, Dr Dil Rowshan Zinnat, Dr Umme Salma, Dr Umme Kalsum, Dr Muhammad Mahmudul Islam, Dr Kaniz-e-Butool, Zeenat Ara Shirazi, Dr Zafar Ahmed Bhuiyan, Muhammad Gholam Rabbani and Muhammad Israfil.
While briefing the delegation, the Punjab University vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood said that it was heartening that Higher Education Commission had initiated special assistance programme for the faculty exchange and visit to universities.
In the increasing globalised world, linkages among organisations and professionals were becoming more and more important for national growth and development.
Nations without active co-operation / linkage with other nations would face hardships towards development.
The researchers and academicians could be very useful to many of their counterparts in several countries around the globe, he added.
Through the mutual interaction between personnel from each of the university and the professionals from overseas, skills and expertise could be shared.
And as a result they could improve their capabilities and enhance expertise through mutual learning, he maintained.
