The brotherly country of United Arab Emirates (UAE) will reconstruct the destroyed 400-bed CMH with the cost of 16 million dollars. This was told by the visiting representative of the UAE Government Juma Mubarak Aljunaibi in an interview with APP during his visit to quake-ravaged hospital at Muzaffarabad on Thursday.
The other members of the UAE delegation were Abdullah Alshamsi, Abdul ur Rehman Baluchi and Ali Alhaj Al Muhairbi. Juma Mubarak said that the government and people of UAE are with the people of quake affected areas of Pakistan and their government under the instructions of UAE President has planned the construction of various projects including education and health sectors in the quake hit areas of Azad Kashmir and NWFP.
Responding to question, Juma said that the purpose of their visit to the quake-hit areas was aimed at reviewing the needs of area so that we could contribute in the reconstruction phase.
During the visit to ruined CMH, the delegation was briefed by the Commanding Officer Colonel Iqbal Hanif about the activities and services rendered by the doctors and paramedical staff immediately after the October 8 earthquake.
Commanding officer CMH briefed the delegation with the help of slides about the various sections of the hospital. He briefed the delegation that after the quake some 2,000 to 2,500 outdoor patients were being examined and provided medical services daily in the hospital besides conducting various operations.
He also briefed the UAE delegation about the various departments of the hospital and latest facilities being provided to the people in the hospital before the quake hit the area. Juma Mubarak said that memorandum of understanding (MOU) in this connection would be signed later in Islamabad.
