This is with reference to a letter published in a newspaper of May 17, 2006 by Nazeer Abro from Sukkur under the caption "Musharraf on corruption."
PIA refutes the content of the letter concerning a PIA senior employee as incorrect. The person being referred to by the writer was on deputation by PIA to serve in IATA. He later joined Aero Exchange, which is a consortium of 15 major airlines entrusted to automate supply chain by using the latest tools for building software for airlines and not selling spares to PIA. The software is being used by airlines like Lufthansa, Fed Ex, North West, Air Canada, Singapore Airline, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Air France and Royal Dutch Airline.
PIA is now embarked on adoption of these systems to fully automate its purchases, which will bring efficiency and enhanced transparency in PIA.
(The writer is General Manager Public Affairs & Communication, PIA)
