The Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges on Friday deliberated in detail on various amendments proposed in the Rules of Procedure of the Senate and unanimously made some amendments for incorporation in the existing rules.
The committee met in the Parliament House under Chairmanship of Senator Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi to consider the proposed amendments in the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate, 1988.
The chairman of the committee lauded the contribution made by the members in further improving the Rules of Procedure. He said it had become necessary and expedient that the rule be reviewed, revised and updated to ensure smooth working of the Senate.
The meeting was attended, besides the Chairman of the Committee, Senator Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi by Senator Asfandyar Wali, Naeem Hussain Chattha and Mian Raza Rabbani.
Senators S.M. Zafar, Ms Saadia Abbasi, Professor Khurshid Ahmed and Raza Mohammad Raza attended the meeting on special invitation. Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Sher Afghan Khan Niazi and senior officers of the Ministries of Parliamentary Affairs and Law and Justice were also present.
